UWG Grad is Youngest in USG History

The University of West Georgia made history when the youngest graduate in the 76-year history of the University System of Georgia walked across the stage to receive his diploma.

When H.W. Richards began to develop the Ole Hickory neighborhood off of Highway 61 about 40 years ago, he ran into a problem. His builders failed to find a water supply for residents. After the last well, drilled to a depth of 274 feet, turned up dry, Richards turned to West Georgia Professor of Geology Tom Crawford for help.

West Georgia and the city of Carrollton will celebrate the Fourth of July at the Annual People’s Parade Friday morning and a music and fireworks extravaganza Friday evening. The university’s parade float will feature its mascot, Wolfie. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July.
