FAQ
Welcome to UWG's eCore Advisement Center

eCore are online core courses that are provided through a state-wide collaborative program. eCore courses are taught entirely online, except for the occasional proctored exam. Courses satisfy the basic core curriculum requirements at any University System of Georgia institution.

How do I Apply?

The office of Admissions is now taking applications for the Fall 2008 term. The Admission's deadline for Fall is June 1, 2008.

Please visit the Admission's Website for the admission's guidelines, documents, and deadline dates: http://www.westga.edu/~admiss/

Below are different scenarios that may help you with the admission's process:

Case # 1: I haven't been in school for years. I have never attended UWG. Where do I start?

If you've been out of school for more than 5 years and never attended college , you will not be required to take the SAT and some other requirements will be waived. However, you will have to take a placement exam and may be required to take Learning Support/ Remedial courses before being allowed to enroll in eCore or other college-credit courses.

As of June 2003: "A student with LS requirements who is enrolled in all required LS courses may now take an eCore course if the student has met the LS prerequisite(s) for the course. (For example, a stgudent with an LS requirement only in math who is enolled in LS math may take an eCore course in English.) The student must drop the eCore course(s) if dropping the required LS course(s)."

Case 2. To be classified as a non-traditional student, one must have not attended high school/college within the past five (5) years, and earned no more than 45 quarter/30 semester hours of transferable college credit.

In either case case 1 or case 2 , see this website: http://www.westga.edu/~admiss/ for a quick review of the admission documents you will need.

Please contact the UWG Admissions Officer, Mark Taylor at mtaylor@westga.edu or 678-839-5600 for additional assistance with admissions.

Case 3. It has been over a year since I attended UWG. Now I want to start back to school. How do I begin?

If you were previously admitted to UWG but have not registered for/ attended classes in more than one calendar year, you will need to re-apply to UWG.

Fill out this re-admission form and sent it to the UWG Registrar's office (address is on the form): http://www.westga.edu/~registra/forms/readmitform.pdf
