Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship

The Goizueta Foundation and the University of West Georgia are pleased to announce the Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable annually for undergraduate studies at the University of West Georgia.  The next scholarship recipient, who will enroll at UWG as a freshman beginning Fall Semester 2007, can expect to receive $5,000-$6,000 per year, for four years.

Robert C. Goizueta established The Goizueta Foundation in 1992 to provide financial support to educational and charitable organizations.  The Foundation is a private, general purpose, grant making foundation whose mission is to assist organizations that empower individuals and families through educational opportunities to improve the quality of their lives.  For more information on the Goizueta Foundation, please visit their website at http://www.goizuetafoundation.org/.

UWG is the recipient of a grant from the Goizueta Foundation.  The intent of UWG’s Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund is to help support the cost of a student’s tuition, fees, books and other expenses related to the cost of education.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Student must be of Hispanic/Latino descent
  • Student must be accepted into the University of West Georgia for Fall 2007 prior to the scholarship deadline
  • Student must be able to demonstrate financial need
  • Student and family must currently reside in the United States

Selection Criteria

A student will be chosen based upon:

  • Completed Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship application packet and supporting documents.
  • High school program of study and GPA from official high school transcript
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • Personal interview to be held on the campus of the University of West Georgia.  First interviews will be held on campus during Scholarship Day on February 19, 2007. 
  • Priority scholarship application deadline is January 27, 2007. To be considered for the scholarship, the student MUST be admitted to the University of West Georgia for the Fall 2007 semester. To get more information, please visit the Office of Admissions at www.westga.edu/~admiss.

Scholarship Award

The Goizueta Foundation Scholars Fund Scholarship at the University of West Georgia is a need based award and will be approximately $5,000 -$6,000 per year.  The award amount is determined on an individual basis, and may be added to any other scholarship (e.g. HOPE, Presidential Scholarships, etc.)

 The award amount is renewable annually, based upon the student's satisfactory academic performance, progress toward his or her degree, annual demonstration of need, and participation in community service and events sponsored by the Multicultural Achievement Program.
