The West
Georgia Judo club is an actively competitive club that participates
in local and regional level tournaments. We strive for excellence in our
martial art, a Japanese system of throwing and grappling techniques. The club
is very beginner friendly, and no prior martial arts experience is
necessary. We invite anybody who is interested in the sport of judo to
come and workout with us. Workouts are on Mondays after the class from 9-10 PM
and Wednesdays 7-9 PM in the Student Recreation Center at UWG. If you are
interested in joining the West Georgia Judo Club, please don't hesitate to
stop by the Student Rec Center before
one of the workouts.
The policy for joining the Judo club is as follows:
If you are more interested in competing, you may join the
West Georgia Judo Team. The Judo Team practices with the Judo club
but attends extra Judo workouts (at least three times a week) and competes at
more tournaments than the Judo Club. Another stipulation of membership is that
a team member must attend three workouts a week for three consecutive weeks
before a tournament. If there are back to back tournament weekends, then
the first tournament will count as a workout for the next week (meaning that the
team member will only have to attend two workouts the week between tournaments).
Any member of the club who is interested in becoming a more serious competitor is
welcome to join the team. The benefit of joining the team is that tournament
entry fees will be paid for by the club. Anyone is welcome to join the Judo Club.
