3. Homeworks and Quizzes: Each week's assignment will be collected on MONDAY of
the following week. No late homework
will be accepted. Homework
solutions will be made available each week after the homework has been
collected, and will be on reserve in the library. Homework assignments are subject to change during the
semester. Every Friday, except for
those days mentioned in the syllabus, there will be a ten minute quiz in
class. There will be no make-up
quizzes for undocumented absences.
There are a total of 15 homework assignments and 11 quizzes. The best 20 (any combination) will be used
in calculating the semester hw/quiz grade.
Any time you turn in multiple pages of homework, they WILL be
stapled together, or only the first page will be graded.
4. Attendance: Homework
assignments will be collected every Monday, quizzes will be given in class
every Friday (except as noted). Missing
more than 5 homework assignments and/or quizzes will be considered excessive
absences and will be grounds for dismissal from the class with a grade of WF.
5. Exams: There
are two mid-term exams and a final exam.
Make-up exams will be given only for the most compelling and extraordinary
reason. All make-up exams must be
requested from the instructor in advance of the original exam, and
excuses must be documented.
6. Academic dishonesty is defined in the UWG
student handbook. Any instance of
academic dishonesty on an exam or quiz will result in loss of ALL credit for
the semester and receipt of an F grade. Appeal procedures following such a judgement are also found in
the student handbook.
7. Semester Project: There will be a semester project to be chosen by the
student and approved by the instructor.
Students may work on the project alone or in groups of up to three
students. Students working in groups
can turn in one copy of the project, and the whole group will be assigned the
same grade, unless any student desires to turn in his/her own write-up of the
project to receive an individual grade.
8. Grading Policy: Homeworks and quizzes 15%
