Strengths
1. The department continues to have high
enrollment
(487 majors and pre-majors.)
2. Faculty continue to be involved at the
national and international level in terms of publications and
professional activities.
3.Graduate program continues to attract
students
from across the country and internationally.
4. Department is involved in community
affairs,
specifically the Brookwood project.
5. Expanded internship opportunities with
local facilities.
6. More Graduate students are getting licensed
7. More internships for undergraduates
8. More Graduates from M.A. program going
on to doctoral programs
Weaknesses
1. Clearly not enough faculty to
effectively
handle undergraduate and graduate load
2. Could use more assistant money to attract
high quality graduate applicants

The department has a "Clinical Track option"
that provides students with courses approved by the
Georgia Licensing Board and appropriate
practica
and interships.
9: Other notable achievements
Dr. Elena Mustakova-Possardt received the
2003 Carter Campus Community Partenship Award in the
amount of $10,000 for founding the Latino
Initiative of the State University of West Georgia. This was a
major recognition of the her three-year
efforts
aimed at applying the insights of critical and community
psychology theory and praxis to assisting
the new Latino immigrant population of rual Carroll County.
