Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Program
Chair's Welcome
Department Orientation
The University of West Georgia Psychology Department is unique in that our theoretical roots are in
the humanistic and transpersonal psychology traditions. Our courses move from the expression of such
classically humanistic concerns as the centrality of human subjective experience in psychology, holistic
approaches to psychological understanding, human growth and development, and the extension of human potential to its transpersonal and spiritual horizons. Themes such as the meaning of genuine community, sociality, understanding self and others, and the myriad ways through which we grow and develop are central to the academic learning environment.
