STAFF ADVISORY COUNCIL MINUTES
April 18, 2001

Clois Reese called the meeting to order at 10:08 am

The minutes from the March 15, 2001 meeting were approved as printed.

OLD BUSINESS

A. Dr. Todd will discuss with Shirley Barclay at Student Activities to determine a centralized place to place typewriters for students to use to type forms.

B. Alex Young informed the SAC that one of her students is requesting donations for the Carrollton Relay for Life Cancer walk.  All checks should be made payable to
The American Cancer Society.

C. The SAC discussed Staff Day events and T-shirt sales.  Patti Jiles will be planning the entertainment again this year.  If anyone has any suggestions to provide entertainment for Staff Day, please let Patti know.  It was suggested that students from the Music Department might be able to provide entertainment.

NEW BUSINESS

A. Clois Reese discussed the University participating in “Casual Day” to support the Carrollton Rape Crisis Center.  On Thursday, April 26, a donation of $1 or more would allow staff to participate.  “All money raised from this event benefits the Rape Crisis Center, serving victims of sexual violence in Carroll and Haralson Counties.  A yellow ribbon would be given to staff who contributed to this worth while cause.  Clois will check with Administration for approval.

B. Alex Young reported that the SAC account has $415.06 at the present time.
 
C. The SAC unanimously voted to purchase Anita Thomas and Frances Miller a Staff Day T-shirt.  It was also decided to purchase awards for Anita Thomas, Frances Miller and Charlotte Kraft for their outstanding service they have provided to the SAC and University.

D. Dr. Todd and Debbie McKenzie informed the SAC that Intramurals is sponsoring
an adventure trip to Gulf Shores May 14 – 16.  The trip will include Deep Sea Fishing.  If anyone is interested in going, please contact Debbie.

E. Clois announced it is time to elect new SAC officers for the next year.  It was suggested that Dr. Sethna send a letter to departments asking directors to assign a staff member to the SAC.  Clois has served 2 years as President of the SAC.   We want to thank Clois for all the work she has done for the SAC.  Clois said she would be around for awhile especially to help with the conference in 2002.

F. Alex informed the SAC that departments will began to move into their new offices in the TLC building May 9 – 16.

G. The next meeting will be held May 17, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. in ______________________________________________________________
