UWG Critical Incident Team
The Critical Incident Team (CIT) provides a collaborative, cross-functional approach to assessing and responding to individuals who may be a danger to self or others. Team members include representatives from the offices of the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management, Judicial Affairs, Student Development, Health Services, Residence Life, and University Police. Other campus staff and faculty are included as needed.
The CIT discusses a situation, assesses whether there is an immediate threat, and may decide on action steps (such as educational interventions, referral to the judicial system, arrest, interim suspension or administrative withdrawal, development of a treatment plan, developing a safety plan for individuals, contacting outside agencies, implementation of the suicide policy, or contacting parents). CIT discussions are considered confidential, unless the CIT concludes that it is necessary to share information on a need-to-know basis in order to protect the safety of the campus.
The CIT also meets as necessary to review procedures, protocols, and campus needs related to the psychological concerns of students; and provides training to various on-campus constituencies as needed.
If you are concerned about a specific individual or situation, please report that at http://www.westga.edu/judicial/index_7989.php.
