The Department of Accounting and Finance provides quality student learning in a personal environment and develops and maintains professionally accomplished faculty. Excellence in student learning and professional development activities complement each other. The primary means by which instructors can enhance and update the content of their present courses and design new ones is through research and professional development activities.
Faculty members keep their knowledge current through interaction with the professional community and through involvement in academic and professional organizations. Members of the department are also engaged in service to the institution through involvement in University, Richards College of Business, and Departmental committees.
The University of West Georgia is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Richards College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - International (AACSB-I). The accounting program is one of only five institutions in the state of Georgia to have accounting accreditation from the AACSB.
