Out of State Students

Tuition Incentives for entering Freshmen and Transfers

The University of West Georgia values the diversity that out-of-state students bring to campus.  In order to encourage these students to attend, a limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers are available to incoming freshman and new transfer students.  These waivers offer the in-state rate to our out-of-state students as an incentive to attend. Eligible incoming freshmen and transfer students must be accepted to the University no later than February 5th, 2010 to be considered.   Review of applicants will take place in conjunction with the review for Foundation Scholarships which are awarded on March 13th, 2010.  Decisions will be made with a holistic perspective based on submitted materials and academic credentials.

Minimum Criteria for Consideration:
  • Minimum High School GPA (in college preparatory courses) or College GPA of 3.0
  • Academic Resume – listing activities, student leadership, honors/awards, community service, etc.  Use format found at www.westga.edu/resume
  • Written Statement (of no more than one page) – detailing why you wish to both attend West Georgia and receive this out-of-state tuition waiver

For more information regarding the out-of-state waivers, please contact Ms. Katie Jordan at katiej@westga.edu.
