Cliff Oxford '84

Cliff Oxford empowers aspiring entrepreneurs to follow their passion -- as he did. His company has been recognized as the 13th fastest growing company in the U.S. He was named Atlanta Entrepreneur of the Year. He endowed the Executive MBA program at Emory (the W. Cliff Oxford Executive MBA). Cliff went West, but never imagined how far it would take him.

Christa Pitts '97

Going West opened doors for Christa Pitts: she pursued her dream of reporting and anchoring television news as well as hosting on QVC. And thanks to her time at UWG, she wasn't afraid to explore new territory as co-CEO of the publishing company responsible for the popular children's book Elf on a Shelf.

Graduate student Marina Rakitova got her hands on a museum exhibit – and an unexpected crash course in Georgia politics – through UWG’s master’s program in Public History. Ukrainian graduate student Marina Rakitova is studying Public History at the University of West Georgia. She talks about her work with the Thomas B. Murphy exhibit and her take on US politics.

Sam Crenshaw '81

For Sam Crenshaw ’81, Going West meant exploring a land of opportunities. From his start on the UWG campus radio station to his role as sports anchor at WXIA in one of the largest television markets in the country, Sam has combined his love of sports and broadcasting to forge his own path.

Felton Dunn '74

Felton Dunn’s West experience kicked off his journey as a singer/songwriter/musician. He's traveled the world sharing his music - and took those first trips abroad with the UWG Choir. Closer to home, he's a fixture on the Atlanta music scene and has been inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame.

University of West Georgia alumnus Dan Peeples is Mayor of Varnell, Georgia. His youthful exuberance has breathed new life into the small town.
