Non-Degree Seeking

Transient

A transient student is a “visiting” student who wishes to take course work at UWG for one semester and then return to his/her previously enrolled college.

In addition to submitting a completed admission application and $40 application fee (If mailing a paper application, please do not mail cash payment.) each time they wish to attend UWG, a transient student must also submit to the Office of Admissions a Transient Approval Letter from the Registrar or Dean of his/her previously college. This Transient Letter must state the student is in good academic standing.

If your school does not have a Letter of Transient Permission, please use UWG’s Letter of Transient Permission Form.

A transient student must not be on suspension or exclusion from the previous college. In case of doubt, the Director of Admissions may classify the applicant as a transfer applicant and require the applicant to comply with all transfer admission requirements.

Enrollment as a transient student is limited to one consecutive semester.

A transient student wishing to continue enrollment at UWG as a degree seeking transfer student must reapply as a transfer degree seeking student and fulfill all transfer admission requirements. Application as a transfer student and all required transfer admission documents must be received by the announced application and document deadline date.

Since transient students are “visiting” student and not degree seeking UWG students, transient students are not eligible for any financial assistance from UWG. Transient students must make financial assistance arrangements with their “home” college.

Note: Transient students are eligible to register on the first day of open registration.  Visit the Registrar's website for the registration dates of each term. Transient students do not attend new student orientation.

Auditor

An Auditor is a student who enrolls as an observer or listener only.

In addition to submitting a completed admission application and $40 application fee (If mailing a paper application, please do not mail cash payment.), an auditor must also show proof of graduation from an accredited high school or the possession of a GED certificate.  Credit is not awarded for audit and no grade other than V (symbol for audit) is given.  Auditors pay the regular fees for enrollment.  Students are prohibited from receiving credit for courses for which they were registered as auditors unless the course is repeated for credit.

Since auditors are "visiting" students and not degree seeking UWG students, auditors are not eligible for financial assistance from UWG.

Note: Auditors are eligible to register three days prior to the start of the semester. Visit here for the registration date of the upcoming term. Auditors are eligible to attend in consecutive terms; however, they must reapply and submit an additional $40 application fee (If mailing a paper application, please do not mail cash payment.) if they do not stay continuously enrolled (the requirement to apply and pay the application fee each term is waived for students who stay continuously enrolled). Auditors do not attend new student orientation.

A Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Seeking student attends classes but is not seeking a UWG degree.
