The biological sciences include a wide range of disciplines that address the processes of life, all living organisms, their environments, and the actions and interactions of all living things. Biology has a rich history and an exciting future as it impacts ecology and the environment, medicine, biotechnology, and many other aspects of modern life.
Possible Careers
Bacteriologist, Biologist, Biomedical Engineer, Ecologist, Embryologist, Geneticist, Lab Technician, Marine Biologist, Medical Pathologist, Microbiologist, Oceanographer, Pharmacist, Physician, Physician's Assistant, Researcher, Teacher and Toxicologist are a few of the more obvious career choices. But many biology majors also find careers in the fields of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Conservation, Forensics, Horticulture, Law, Nutrition, Paleontology, Public and Social Service, Publishing, and Veterinary Medicine, to name a few.
Degree Options
Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Biology
Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Biology with concentrations in General Biology, Secondary Education, Allied Health, and Pre-Professional.
Advising
All Biology majors, with the exception of Allied Health, are advised by the Department of Biology. Allied Health majors are advised within the EXCEL Center. If you are a General, Secondary Education, or Pre-Professional Biology major, contact the Department of Biology by visiting Biology Building Room 159 or calling 678-839-6547 to find out who your advisor is. Allied Health majors should visit the EXCEL Center at UCC 200 or by calling 678-839-6280 to be advised.
