UWG Department of Chemistry

Chemistry is the study of substances and energy, focusing on composition, characteristics, reactions, uses, and the benefits and dangers of these to mankind. Biochemistry examines the molecular components and process characteristics of living organisms.

Possible Careers
Biochemist, Chemist, Food/Drug Analyst/Inspector, Geochemist, Health Administrator, Pharmacist, Pharmacologist, Physician and Teacher, are a few of the more obvious career choices. But many chemistry majors also find careers in the fields of Art, Assaying/Metallurgy, Computer Programming, Environmental Studies, Law, Marketing/Sales, Petroleum Industry, Waste Management, Water Conservation and Writing (Science Fiction), to name a few.

Degree Options
Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Chemistry with concentrations in General chemistry, Secondary Education, Pre-Pharmacy, and Pre-Professional.
Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Chemistry with concentrations in ACS Certified General Chemistry, ACS Certified Biochemistry, and Chemical Engineering
