UWG Department of English and Philosophy
The English program offers courses that enable students to develop skills in written discourse, to comprehend the defining traits of major literary genres, to understand the history of literature, to interpret texts in light of pertinent critical perspectives, to acquire proficiency in scholarly research, and to relate the facts and ideas of the discipline to other fields, particularly within the context of Western intellectual history.
Possible Careers
Archivist, Author, Bibliographer, Biographer, Curator, Journalist, Librarian, Proofreader, Publisher, Teacher and Technical Writer, are a few of the more obvious career choices. But many majors also find careers in the fields of Advertising, Entertainment, Governmental Work, Law, Management, Public Relations, Research, and Social Service, to name a few.

Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in English with concentrations in General English and Secondary Education.
