History

UWG Department of History

History is both the study and the research of major social, political, cultural and economic events of the past. Applying the results of historical study is important for the preservation and future growth of nations and institutions. Knowledge of the past allows the historian to illuminate the obscure and transform confusing events into meaningful patterns, and provides perspective, all of which open the doors to a wide range of careers.

Possible Careers
Archivist, Biographer, Curator, Editor, Educator, Historian, Human Resource Manager, Lecturer, Preservationist and Writer are a few of the more obvious career choices. But many history majors also find careers in the fields of Banking, Criminology, Entertainment, Foreign Service, Intelligence, Journalism, Law, Political Science, Tourism and Urban Planning, to name a few.
