Philosophy

UWG Philosophy Program

The traditional definition of philosophy is the search for wisdom. Contemporary philosophers have a difficult time agreeing on a definition of philosophy, but many think of it as an inquiry into the most fundamental questions facing human beings. Those questions touch on such important topics as God, the nature of human existence, reality, knowledge, and right and wrong. Philosophy seeks to replace opinion about these topics with knowledge.

Possible Careers
Diplomat, Educator, Lawyer, Literary Critic, Technical Writer and Theologian are a few of the more obvious career choices. But many philosophy majors also find careers in the fields of Claims Adjustment, Foreign Service, Fundraising and Development, Journalism, Library Services, Lobbying, Missionary, Politics, Publishing, Research and Social Work, to name a few.
