  2. Discontinue particular events to reduce costs and better utilize volunteer time.
  3. Streamlining and renaming the annual giving clubs.
  4. Expanding annual fund outside of local communities.

4. The department will continue to reduce the cost of fundraising through:

  1. Increasing donor-sponsored cultivation events throughout the region.
  2. Increasing the accessibility of information through online links and publications.

Structural Changes

The department has undergone many structural changes to improve efficiency, the cost of fundraising, and the University’s ability to reach out to more friends and alumni.  In 2008, two development positions were created to represent the fundraising needs of the Richards College of Business, College of Education, and the Honors College (COE and Honors College is a dual assignment). The Associate Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences was given an additional assignment of the School of Nursing. In 2009, two positions were created to assist in accounting due to increased demands on existing staff in the department’s finance office.

The Office of Development & Alumni Relations has an updated system of monitoring and evaluation. Weekly meetings and monthly development reports are utilized and assessed for quality improvement and performance. The office has experienced growth and positive exchanges related to collaboration and team work.
