You Should Know
For the 2008 entering freshman class living on campus, the cost to attend UWG is approximately $11,284 for fall and spring semesters. This includes a regular shared residence hall room, unlimited meal plan, books, tuition and fees. HOPE, Georgia’s lottery-funded scholarship program, covers approximately $3,758 of this amount, or about 33 percent. The remaining 67 percent is the responsibility of the student.
State law prohibits the use of state funds or tuition dollars for scholarships, so your support is vital. More than 90 percent of non-designated Annual Fund dollars support student scholarships. The remaining dollars fund programs and services that have the greatest impact and need.
Last year, the University of West Georgia received more than $25,000 in matching gifts from 31 companies and foundations. When making a donation, please request a matching gift form from your company’s Human Resources office. For additional information, please call the Office of Development and Alumni Relation at 678-839-6582.
The modest budget of only $77,000 enables 45 students to experience the benefits of collaborative research in West Georgia’s Student Research Assistant Program.
