No prerequisites.

A comparative and cross-cultural approach to religious systems and theories on the anthropology of religion, this class examines religiophoton in a cross-cultural and longitudinal manner. We will critically examine different cultural groups and geographical settings to establish the adaptive and creative role of religion in culture, as well as the fundamental role of religion in cultural renewal. Students will be introduced to classic readings in the sub-field and the development of concepts within different theoretical approaches.
