Retired Faculty/Staff Reunion Recap: Our annual event was held on July 16, 2011 in the lower level of Z-6. We had over 100 people turn out to honor our new retirees! This capstone event allows current and former employees to reunite in fellowship. Honorees were able to mingle with current and former colleagues, friends and family. It is always great to see so many of the honorees present. Food and beverages were provided by the Alumni and Development Office. We thank Anne and Fred Richards for providing wine for the event.

The Retiree Class of 2010-2011 included the following folks, many of whom were present: Anne Ball, Jo Burson, Mary Nell Calhoun, Jack Charlesworth, Tim Chowns, Sharon Eggleston, Opal Grizzard, Becky Hart, Tina Hudgins, Evelyn Johnson, Robert Johnson, Lee Jones, Sandra Jones, Lisa Ledbetter, Harrison McCraw, Marcia New, Cathy Osborne, Jeanette Pollard, Michael Renfrow, Randy Robinson, Brent Snow, John Stogner, John Storer, Teresa Traylor, Willie Wynn. Congratulations and welcome to ARFS!

Special thanks to Anne Richards and Martha Ann Saunders for their excellent and hard work in putting together this year’s Tribute Book. They do a wonderful job each year so that we have a lasting memento of our annual reunion. A special thanks to Dale Duffey, Dotti Green, Frank Pritchett, Steven Broome and Sally Roberts for continuing to support ARFS.

UWG and KSU Retirees to Socialize: Some ARFS members recently met with their counterparts from Kennesaw State University for a lunch meeting in Douglasville. We shared and exchanged ideas regarding what our groups are doing. We are going to be setting up a field trip next year for the two of our groups to meet for lunch and a trip to a local museum. We will pass along the details on the listserv when the details are finalized.

Ideas Welcome: If you have an idea for some type of activity you would like the ARFS group to sponsor or you would like to head up, email us or come to the next Steering Committee meeting (announced via our Listserv) and let us know. Perhaps you would like to do a talk on a book you’ve written or some research you are working on?
