Faculty/Staff Directories: With the newsletter mailing, all retired faculty and staff should have received the most current copy of the UWG Faculty/Staff Directory. You may find it useful when you need to call, visit or e-mail someone on campus, or you are just interested in seeing who is still around and minding the store in our absence. We wish to thank Dr. Tara Singer, Vice President for University Advancement, for providing funding for the printing of these additional directories, along with Sally Roberts of Publications and Printing, and Dale Duffey and her colleagues in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations for the printing and mailing of the newsletter.eiffel

Retiree Medallions: The Office of Development and Alumni Relations and the Association of Retired Faculty and Staff have received the medallions that were ordered earlier based upon your phone call requests, and these handsome and commemorative items will be mailed directly to you at your home address within the next week. As it turns out, it is still not too late to place your order if you have not yet done so. This effort is an attempt to make available, free of charge, the special medallions to all faculty and staff who have retired from UWG. These are the new and improved versions of the medallions that were given out most recently at the 2006 retirement reception. These represent a higher quality and more refined iteration of our first year medallion given out in 2005. The medallion is bronze with the university logo on the obverse and the engraving on the reverse, and hangs from a ribbon. The engraving shows your name, department, and years of service. It will be available to all who did not receive one of these at the 2006 reception (or did not receive one in the mail). So, if you did not order or receive one of these newer medallions, and you would like one as a memento of all your years of service to UWG, we have a procedure in place. Simply contact Dale Duffey at (678) 839-6582 or dduffey@westga.edu and give her your name as you would like it to appear engraved on the reverse side of the medallion, your former department or division, and your years of service. She will take it from there and will place a subsequent order and mail it to you when it comes in.
Friday Happy Hours: The Friday afternoon Happy Hours sponsored by the University Club continue this fall term and run from 5-7 p.m. Join former and current faculty and staff members for refreshments and socializing at the following locations and on the dates listed:

ARFS Listserv reminder: All of us currently on the ARFS listserv have received or will receive e-mail notices from ITS that you must renew your subscription to our ARFS listserv. Because of some glitches in the system, your request may not have taken and you may be assuming you are renewed when you really are not. See the list below of names and if your name is not on this list, be sure to re-subscribe by following the procedure listed here, which is the same for brand new subscribers.

To sign up, just follow the procedure listed below:
*Go to the following website called “Join or leave a List”

*Complete only the first 3 fields (boxes)
In the first box labeled “List to Join or Leave,” type in UWG-ARFS
In the second box, type in your complete e-mail address.
In the third box, type in your first and last names.
*Leave the defaults on the rest of the page as is unless you want to change it. *Click on “Join the list.” You’ll get a message stating “A confirmation request is being sent under separate cover.”
Then wait for your e-mail confirmation and follow the instructions provided.
