The University of West Georgia requires that all manufacturers of products bearing UWG trademarks or images of the UWG athletics mascot be licensed through the Trademark Licensing Office. UWG trademarks include, but are not limited to, the university name, wordmark, flame marks and athletics logos. The university licensing program protects UWG’s brand and reputation by ensuring that only approved configurations of the university’s marks appear before the public, and that the products bearing the marks are of good quality.
Manufacturers pay royalties to the university for use of its trademarks. These royalties are used to fund the licensing program and provide an added source of revenue to support other programs.
The University of West Georgia royalty rate is 8 percent of the wholesale selling price. The $50 contract fee is not an advance against royalties. Royalties are payable quarterly and are due within 30 days of the close of each calendar quarter.
UWG’s licensing program is administered by the Trademark Licensing Office, a unit of Business and Auxiliary Services in the Division of Business and Finance.
