1One of many possible programs of study that meets the minimum requirements for a BS in Biology (see below) and prepares a student for certification to teach high school biology (application to teacher education is required (see undergraduate catalog)). A student is advised NOT to pursue this plan without formally declaring a major in Biology and consulting regularly with their assigned advisor. A student uses non-assigned advisors at their own risk. NOTE: This program of study is designed to complete the course requirements for teacher education prior to the start of the third year (see undergraduate catalog for other eligibility requirements). Admission to teacher education is required for enrollment into Education Blocks as noted in the program above.
Minimum requirements for BS in Biology (see reverse side for details):
1. Student must satisfy all General Education requirements (Area A-F of Core).
2. Student must complete a minimum of 39 hours of upper division courses (3000/4000 level)
3. Student must complete a minimum of 21 hours of 3000/4000 courses in the major (BIOL)
4. Student must satisfy all Requirements for the Major
5. Student’s overall GPA must be at least 2.0
6. Student’s GPA in the major (Area F and Requirements for the Major) must be at least 2.0.
