    Heather Vinson is an art historian specializing in modern art and critical theory. Her scholarship focuses on emerging artistic practices at the turn of the century and the European avant-garde's shifting relationship to the art market. Other areas of interest include gender studies, social geography, and the history of consciousness. She received her doctorate ("Repetitions: Memory and Making in Degas's Ballet Classroom Series") from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and has taught at Colgate University and the University of South Florida.
