Faculty Awards+

The College of Arts and Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award
The award is designed to recognize faculty members in the various departments of the college for their outstanding contributions to teaching and student learning. At the end of each academic year, the award shall be given to four faculty members—one each from the Performing Arts, the Humanities, the Natural Sciences and the Social Sciences. Each recipient shall receive a plaque and the amount of $500.00 for professional development.

The College of Arts and Sciences Excellence in Scholarship Award
The award is intended to recognize faculty members in the various departments of the college for their outstanding contributions to research and other scholarly activities. At the end of each academic year, the award shall be given to four faculty members—one each from the Performing Arts, the Humanities, the Natural Sciences and the Social Sciences. Each recipient shall receive a plaque and the amount of $500.00 for professional development.

Faculty Grants+

The College of Arts and Sciences Research Grant
The program is designed to encourage, promote and help support the engagement in research by the members of the faculty in the various departments of the college. Each semester during the academic year, several research grants of varying amounts (depending on the cost for conducting research) will be awarded on a competitive basis.

The College of Arts and Sciences Teaching Grant
The program is intended to help promote innovative in teaching and the resultant student learning. Specifically, this may involve either the development of new pedagogical approaches or the rethinking of existing ones for the overall purpose of enhancing student learning. Each semester during the academic year, several grants based on a standard amount would be awarded on a competitive basis.

The College of Arts and Sciences Curriculum Development Grant
The program is designed to encourage, promote and help support either the development of new courses or the revision of existing ones consistent with the emerging trends in the various disciplines, as well as the labor market. Each semester during the academic year, several awards would be made based on a standard amount.

Staff Awards

The College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Staff Award
The award is designed to recognize COAS staff members for outstanding performance in carrying out their assigned responsibilities with excellence while also taking initiative to go above and beyond in their contributions to the university community.  The winners will receive a $500 award to be used in their department and a personal plaque to be awarded at an award ceremony at the end of the academic year.

Staff Grants

The College of Arts and Sciences Staff Professional Development Grant
The program provides the opportunity for COAS staff members to attain new skills or knowledge in a manner that will enhance a staff member's performance or eligibility for promotion and be of specific benefit to the department, university, and/or university system.
