Collaborative Support and Intervention
Welcome to the Department of Collaborative Support and Intervention. We are truly unique in that our programs focus on a broad spectrum of school and community-related endeavors. With an overarching emphasis on preparing exemplary practitioners who make meaningful contributions to the community and lives of the individuals with whom they work, faculty in Collaborative Support and Intervention provide innovative programs in the following areas: ESOL, Professional Counseling, Reading Education, Special Education, and Speech Language Pathology.

Collaborative Service and Outreach
There is a common theme across our programs, which is delivering professional service to diverse students and clients
Examples of funded collaborative work:

Project SELL: Servicing English Language Learners
- Funded by a university Seed Grant, the goals are to:
1.Equip Georgia school-based speech-language pathologists with the knowledge and skills needed to differentiate between a disability and a difference due to cultural factors
2.Reduce the number of inappropriate referrals for placement into the speech-language impaired program in the K-12 setting
3.Assist speech-language pathologists in obtaining the knowledge and skills needed to work with English Language Learners when they do qualify for placement into the speech-language impaired program
- Funded by a university Seed Grant, the goals are to:

Prevent @ WGA - Campus-wide Suicide Prevention Grant
- Comprehensive program designed to prevent suicide and promote help-seeking behaviors for the general university population, specifically students
- Trains RAs, leaders of student organizations, faculty and staff to identify students at risk for suicide, make effective referrals, and break down barriers to help-seeking
- Three-year project funded by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

Comprehensive Community Clinic
- Provides learning opportunities for CSI students
- Offer services for the community in special education, counseling, speech-language pathology, reading, and ESOL
