Preparing our graduates and their students to anticipate, meet, and solve existing and emerging challenges.
Our department has the capacity to prepare educators to address those challenges. The Educational Psychology and Foundations faculty prepare educators to think deeply about learning and cognition - and how technologies can be used most effectively to support different ways of learning. The Instructional Design and Technology faculty are leaders in exploring alternative ways of delivering education and using technology to support learning and problem solving. A major challenge faced by educators is information overload, and our School Library Media faculty prepare educators to quickly and efficiently retrieve and evaluate information that provides insight into a problem. The Research faculty prepare educators to assess a variety of educational programs and environments with the intention of identifying what is and isn't working and recommending changes. Our mission is to work together to prepare educators to create proven, pedagogically grounded, innovative strategies to change education to meet the needs of contemporary learners.
