 CP&D Departmental Statement of Goals, and Assessment Objectives  2008

Continual Goals and Assessment Objectives

·        To provide support to the University mission by maintaining a professional, progressive department; delivering services of planning, design, project and program management, and administration.  Assessed by benchmarking against similar universities as well as private industry standards. (Relative to CP&F Goal I- 2&3, Goal II- 3)  Target: Continuous & Ongoing

1.   Continually allocate the use of available resources both in-house as well as outside Consultants and Contractors to ensure benefit to the University and taxpayers of Georgia.
2.   Develop and culture processes and procedures that enable the achievement and enhancement of achievement of our goal.
3.   Consult with outside professionals to evaluate department’s standing related to private standards.
4.   Provide necessary resources, training, and materials necessary to accomplish the requirements.
5.   Maintain consistent communication to all stakeholders, partners, and clients necessary to ensure success of projects.

·        To enhance the University experience and Academic mission by providing facilities that are safe, functional, comfortable, state of the art, and of high value.  Assessed by conformance to design criteria developed by the Board of Regents. (Relative to CP&F Goal III, 1)  Target: Continuous & Ongoing
1.   By providing excellent program as well as project management services by professional competent employees with emphasis on quality, functionality, safety, benefit of the project to the University.
2.   By frequent periodic inspection and communication with the Consultant and Contractor during construction to ensure compliance with requirements of the conformance to the referenced standards.

·        To provide quality service by friendly professional staff that employ integrity in every action.  Assessed by bi-weekly evaluation during project status meetings and can also be measured by the Campus Facility Survey. (Relative to CP&F Goal II and Goal III)  Target: Continuous & Ongoing
1.   All stakeholders, partners and clients are treated with respect and courtesy.
2.   Staff are trained and expected to adhere to the highest standards of integrity at all times.

·        Improve communications and relationships with the University System of Georgia.  Assessed and critiqued by the Office of Facilities of the Board of Regents.  (Relative to CP&F Goal IV)
1.   Maintain frequent communication with the Board of Regents Office of Facilities staff by phone, email, correspondence and visitation.
2.   Serve on various committees of the Office of Facilities.

·        Improve communications within the division to better analyze, strategize and prioritize work. (Relative to CP&F Goal II and Goal III)  Target: Continuous & Ongoing

·        Improve the process by which our work is done by investigating the technology available and by continual process review.
(Relative to CP&F Goal I, 1.a.,b., Goal II, Goal III, 3, Goal IV, 3)

Short Term Goals and Assessment Objectives

·        Continue to utilize BPR as well as Lean Six Sigma where applicable to improve work flow process for more efficient departmental production. (In support of CP&F Goal II)
1.   BPR committee meetings, assignments, Six Sigma training.

·        Implementation of the UWG GIS/GPS Mapping and Information System.  (In support of CP&F Goal I, 2, Goal IV)
1.   Now that the base mapping and Boundary Survey are complete we will continue to work with the Dept. of Geosciences to develop the proper methodology to best compile, store and utilize the data to best serve the needs of the University.  We are in the process of purchasing the equipment and software necessary to gather the data from the field and import it into the system.  Target: Feb. 2008 

·        Provide Construction Management services for the Callaway Building Addition (J-112) in conjunction with the Managing Architect, Warren Epstein & Associates. (In support of CP&F Goal IV, Goal V)  Target: July 2007 through August 2008
1.   Provide services in accordance with BOR and UWG processes and procedures.
2.   Provide necessary ‘leg-work’ services for the Managing Architect such as; plan review, field inspection and documentation, informal communication to the Contractor, assist in managing the Contractor to provide a quality product delivered on schedule.

·        Provide Job Site, Mechanical, and Electrical assistance for the construction of the Health, Wellness Building (J-40).
1.   Review construction documentation, provide information related to the project site, assist as required in other capacities, and maintain job information.  (In support of CP&F Goal IV, Goal V) Target July 2008 through project Construction.

·        Work with Campus Community, as well as Consultants to develop Capital Funding Requests based on the New Capital Funding Initiative as it relates to the overall Campus Strategic Goals.  (In support of CP&F Goal IV, Goal V)
