Yuvonne Pate Collection
Scope and Content
The Yuvonne Pate Collection is a collection of mill related objects donated to the Center for Public History by Yuvonne Pate. The objects belonged to members of her family, including her parents, who worked for textile mills in the Carrollton area. Included in the collection are spools of thread, loom tools, technical books, service pins, and other assorted tools.

- Small address book and calendar (!933 calendar year); 2 ½” x 3 3/8” with black cover; printed by Draper Corporation: Hopedale, Mass., Atlanta, GA., Spartanburg, SC.; some notes inside.
- The Spinner’s Handy Data Book; W.R.C. Smith Publishing Company, Atlanta, GA.; 3”x 5 ½”; yellow cover.
- Tag; yellowish brown color; 2 5/8” x 5 5/8”; notes written on one side; came out of The Spinner’s Handy Data Book.
- Small mill book belonging to Paul Smith with red leather cover with button; 3” x 5 ¼”; notes written throughout in pencil; pocket in front of book containing small clippings.
- Two Caroline Mills, Inc. receipts; 193_; blue paper; technical pencil drawings on backof both; 11 13/16” x 6 ½”; some fading, water spots bug, or mouse damage.
- Tag; 2 5/8” x 5 5/8”; notes and math problems on both sides; name: John David Pollard; was located inside folded Caroline Mills receipts.
- Audels Handy Book of Practical Electricity by Franklin D. Graham; Theo. Audel and Co. Publishers, reprinted 1944; thick book with red binding; 5” x 6 ¾” x 2.”
- Cotton Spinning: Bunches in Cotton Yarn; McGraw-Hill Publishing Co., 1936; 40 pages; black and yellow paper cover; some rust spots and bug damage; 4 ¾” x 6 ¾”.
- Cotton Mill Machinery Calculations, Volume 1; by B.M. Parker, W.R.C. Smith Publishing Co., Atlanta, 1913; missing front cover; rust damage from staples; spine cover coming off; 4 ¾” x 6 ¾”.
- Cotton Mill Machinery Calculations, Volume 2; by B.M. Parker, W.R.C. Smith Publishing Co., Atlanta, 1913; minor rust damage; spots; 4 ¾” x 6 ¾”.
