Teaching Community History: A Teacher's Activity Packet & Oral History Program
Through support from the Georgia Humanities Council and a UWG STEP/P-16 Collaboratie Research Grant, an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students developed a resource packet for teaching community history in 8th grade classes, in conjunction with the curriculum in Georgia Studies, language arts, and the fine arts.
The packet, entitled "Changing Times: Studying Communities in Carroll County," is available from the Center for Public History at no charge. Please contact center director Dr. Ann McCleary at email@example.com for more information on how to obtain the packet.
The Center also provides support for public schools in the Carroll County and broader west Georgia area which want to undertake these activities. Faculty and graduate students from the university will offer training for teachers and instruction for students in the classroom. Please contact Dr. McCleary for more details.
