Departmental/Educational

American Chemical Society-(ablasio1@my.westga.edu) It’s not uncommon to find the students in the ACS Chemistry Club involved in a variety of activities.  The club seeks to bring chemistry students together through academic as well as social activities.  The most visible activity the club is involved in is the annual chemical demonstration show held on Mole Day where students present the department’s program and fun demonstrations to regional high school students who have interest in the sciences.  Last year ACS raised Christmas presents for distribution to over 75 children.  The club also meets for other events such as picnics, softball games, etc.  For a small fee, you acquire membership in the club as well as association and privileges with the ACS.

Association for Computing Machinery-(daedalus1982@gmail.com) Is a student organization open to all students with an interest in computer science.  Our goal is to serve as a community of social activity for students with an interest in computer science and to encourage enrichment and achievement in this exciting field.

Collegiate Middle Level Association-(cmla@westga.edu) Is a professional education organization for college students preparing to become middle level teachers.  CMLA is an affiliate of National Middle School Association.

Finance Club- (vmui1@my.westga.edu) Is open to Finance majors and all students who are interested in finance, banking, and investment.  Activities of the Finance club includes:  Discussion about topics of current interest, field trip to companies of the finance industry, helping members prepare for the job market, resume preparation, and networking.

Health & Physical Education Club-(rweaver1@my.westga.edu)

History Club-(jawtrey1@my.westga.edu) Is an educational organization designed for students to both socialize and learn from their fellow peers and professors by taking trips to museums and other places of historical significance.

Honors Council-(twright3@my.westga.edu) This is the Student governing body within the Honors College.  It controls the budget for all other Honors activities.  Honors Council is made up of student in official and elected positions.  The Honors Council meets once a month beyond special events.  These meetings are open to all Honors students.

Lambda Alpha Epsilon-(ahackne1@westga.edu) Is the University of West Georgia chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association.  LAE offers opportunities for professional development, educational enhancement, leadership, and social interaction.  Membership is open to criminology majors/minors and persons employed or volunteering in criminal justice. Marketing Club-(sarah@bluegoo.net) Is a collegiate chapter of the American Marketing Association.  This club offers students the opportunity to prepare for professional careers.  We participate in various activities that enhance are networking skills and Marketing abilities and career opportunities.  Whether your are preparing for a career in marketing or just exploring the field, the AMA is your information and networking source.  All majors are welcome in the UWG chapter of AMA.

Mass Communications Society-(acrawfo5@my.westga.edu)

Physics and Engineering club-(peppersjm@gmail.com) The purpose of the physics and Engineering Club is to provide a forum for the discussion of pertinent facts and discoveries in all branches of physics and related disciplines, to afford students the opportunity to engage in activities related to physics and to generate public interest in the physical sciences.

Sculpture & Ceramics Student Organization-(sacsouwg@gmail.com) Is comprised of 3D& 2D fine arts students at the University of West Georgia.  We strive to improve & strengthen the professionalism of ourselves and fellow students through slide-shooting workshops, collectively searching for alternative gallery spaces and showing our artwork here at West Georgia, other schools, and galleries.

Sociology Club-(rwojcik@westga.edu)

Sport Management Society-(sms@westga.edu) The purpose of the Sport Management Society is to stimulate, encourage, and enhance professional development in the field of sport management.  Major goals:  To gather and share information pertaining to sport management with members of SMS, to develop leadership opportunities with SMS, to promote unity among students, faculty, and professionals in the field, to provide networking opportunities through attendance at various professional meetings and conferences.

Student Council for Exceptional Children-(arobin14@my.westga.edu) is the primary professional organization for Special Education teachers.  CEC is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted.  CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

West Georgia Philosophical Society-(cbauch1@my.westga.edu) A gathering of students from all majors who are interested in engaging in Philosophical discussions about a chosen topic.  All are welcome to attend and join.

Wolf Athlete Mentor Organization-(critchi3@my.westga.edu) Is a group of UWG athletes selected to represent their respective sport teams.  This group of student athletes works as mentors and advocates making a difference in the lives of their teammates promoting positive decision making and moral support.

Honorary

Alpha Lambda Delta-(ald1924@westga.edu)

Alpha Phi Sigma-(jcopela4@my.westga.edu) Is the nationally recognized honor society for students in the criminal justice sciences.  The society recognizes academic excellence by undergraduates as well as graduate students of criminal justice.

Alpha Psi Omega-(akorsgal@my.westga.edu) Is a national honorary society for theatre students that have shown outstand dedication, admirable effort, and responsible leadership in art. APO exist to stimulate interests in theatre activities and to secure the advantages provided by a large national honorary society.

Beta Gamma Sigma-(fparsa@westga.edu) The invitation to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is extended only to the academically highest 10% of second-semester juniors, 10% of seniors, and 20% of graduates of AACSBI accredited institutions.  It is the highest honor the Richards College of Business can bestow.  Beta Gamma Sigma candidates are presented their invitation in class during the spring semester.  During the presentation/ceremony they were congratulated on behalf of the Richards College of Business for their excellent academic achievement and invited to become a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national scholastic honor society for outstanding students in accredited college of business.

Gamma Theta Upsilon-(jcarrol6@my.westga.edu) Is an international honor society in geography.  Members of GTU have met academic requirements and share a background and interest in geography.  GTU goals are:  To further professional interest in Geography by offering a common organization for those interested in the field.  To strengthen student and professional training through academic experience in addition to those of the classroom and laboratory.  To create and administer funds for graduate student and research in the field of geography.

Kappa Kappa Psi-(kkpsilambdaeta@gmail.com) Is a fraternal organization that promotes the advancement of college and university bands through dedicated service and support to bands, comprehensive education, leadership opportunities, and recognition for the benefit of its members & society.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars-(nscs@westga.edu) Recognizes outstanding first and second year college students with a 3.4 or higher GPA and in the top twenty percent of their class.  It offers a wide variety of opportunities for involvement on the campus community, and national level.  The benefits of life-time membership include recognition, access to exclusive NSCS programs, networking, and career resources opportunities to apply for scholarships, leadership development, social, and service activities on campus and Alumni programs.

Omicron Delta Kappa-(hmckenz1@my.westga.edu) The Omicron Delta Kappa Society is the national leadership honor society for college students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character.  Membership in ODK is a mark of the highest distinction and honor.  The Society recognizes achievement in five areas:  Scholarship, Athletics, Campus/Community Services, Social/Religious Activities, and Campus Government, Journalism, Speech, and the Mass Media, Emphasis is placed on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and as a contributor to a better society.

Phi Sigma Pi- (dwilker2@my.westga.edu) Is a national Co-educational honor fraternity founded February 14, 1916. Our fraternity stands on The Tripod: scholarship, leadership, and fellowship. We are scholars, we are pilgrims on a journey to better ourselves, our communities and ultimately, to better the world which we all share. We sponsor events to this effect, events encouraging discovery, diversity, brotherhood, scholarship, and service to our Alma Mater and to our community and country.

Tau Beta Sigma-(msmith35@my.westga.edu)

Upsilon Pi Epsilon-(upe@westga.edu) Is the first and only existing international honor society in the computing and information disciplines.  The express purpose of Upsilon Pi Epsilon is to promote the computing sciences and to encourage its contribution to the enhancement of knowledge.  The UWG chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon seeks to recognize and promote academic scholarship and contribution to the field of computer science at the University of West Georgia.

International/Cultural

African Student Association-(uwgasa@gamail.com) Is an organization that will encourage interaction between students of African origin and students interested in African affairs. It will also serve as a social group to reduce stereotypes of the African continent.

Black Student Alliance-(bsa@westga.edu) Is an organization that provides educational and social programs at the University of West Georgia. 

Lambda-(lambda@westga.edu) Is UWG’s gay-straight alliance.  We support GLBTQ1 people, allies, and welcome to our meetings & events all members of the community.  We work as an activist and social organization with weekly meetings and a multitude and variety of other activities.  Coming out in Lambda is safe and confidential.

Latino Cultural Society-(latino@westga.edu) Is an official student organization that embrace the diversity of the Latin American culture including the people, customer, places, music, and dances.  We strongly believe in reaching out to younger individuals and participate in various community service projects to enhance the awareness of the Latin people.  In addition, we hold events for local UWG students who would like to practice Spanish through the use of games, conversation, and socials.  We are proud of our heritage and invite all people to join, even non Latinos are welcome into our culture.

International Student Club-(ronlee_james@yahoo.com) Is an organization consisting of all the international students at the University.  Its main goals and purpose are to learn more about the lifestyle and culture of the United States as well as other countries, to inform other people about various cultures all over the world and to host the annual International Night.  The club is open to all international students as well as any students or faculty members of UWG interested in carrying out its goals and purposes.

College Democrats-(skylerakins@gmail.com) The College Democrats seeks to engage and connect college students with the principles of the Democratic Party.

College Republicans-(dbachma1@my.westga.edu) To bring college students into the Republican Party and to provide an opportunity for them to find political expression and recognition; to foster and encourage the activities of the Republican Party and to promote its ideals; to collect, analyze, discuss, and disseminate information concerning political  affairs and political philosophy; and to sponsor and conduct meetings, conferences, campus events, and speaker forums.  We encourage you to join our facebook group “College Republicans” University of West Georgia division.

NAACP-(gobioma1@my.westga.edu) The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all person and to eliminate racial hatred &racial discrimination.

Professional

Accounting Club- (vmui1@my.westga.edu) Consists of a group of students and faculty that share an interest in financial and managerial accounting.  Membership in the Accounting Club has many benefits.  We focus on helping students prepare themselves to enter the business world.  Members have access to a great array of information as well as many opportunities to meet business leaders from around the greater Atlanta area.  We also participate in various community service activities and cooperate with the institute of Management Accountants Atlanta Chapter and the Georgia Society of CPA’s West Georgia Chapter.  Becoming a member will greatly enhance your ability to become a successful member of the business society.

Aggressive Leadership-(agressiveleadership@gmail.com) Is an organization that gives students the necessary tools and skills to develop as emerging leaders through activities designed for learning about being a leader not only in your colligate career but also in your career beyond college. We want to provide training and skills to empower young future leaders of this country to participate in discussions of the nation current issues through forums, seminars, and actively purse the commitment of servicing our communities.

Alpha Kappa Psi- (akpsi_1904@yahoo.com) Is an international co-ed professional business fraternity that is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders.  Alpha Kappa Psi has 200,000 plus members and the fraternity’s core values are Brotherhood, knowledge, Integrity, Service, and Unity.  Founded in 1904 at the New York University, Alpha Kappa Psi has prominent alumni such as President Ronald Reagan, President Richard Nixon, as well as University President Beheruz N. Sethna.  The main focus of Alpha Kappa Psi is to provide leadership development, personal & professional training, and the fundamental ingredient higher education misses experience.

American Medical Student Association-(epollar1@my.westga.edu) Provides a learning environment for students dedicated to the pursuit of a medical career, through activities and projects geared towards medical education and the health care profession.  We aim for cultivated well-rounded students who will eventually become promising healthcare providers.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association-(Adavis8@my.westga.edu) Is a group of students (most in the speech language pathology program) who come together, do service, community service, and provide awareness about people with speech and hearing disabilities.

Pre-law Society-(counselorga@yahoo.com) Is a student lead organization founded in 2007.  Our goal is to provide a base for students who are interested in law school and related fields.   We provide access to information, student support, and on/off campus activities/events to members during the undergraduate education process.  Dr. Thomas Hunter is the faculty advisor of the society.  The officers and Dr. Hunter are committed to strong ethics, community involvement, and the future success of all UWG students.

The West Georgian-(uwgpaper@westga.edu) Is the officially recognized student newspaper at the University of West Georgia.  The Editors of this weekly publication invite you to attend their Monday meetings at 11:30am in the UCC room 111.  Paid positions are available in everything from photography to news writing.  Interested student are encouraged to e-mail uwgpaper@westga.edu or to call Ellis Smith Editor-in-Chief at 770-331-7191.  Checkout the West Georgian today!

Recreational

Judo Club-(judo@westga.edu) Allows the students to train and condition their mind and body.  Moreover, it helps the students develops endurance, stamina, self control and motivation.

Timberwolves Wrestling-(dmestre1@my.westga.edu) We are a competitive wrestling team.  We plan on competing in the NCWA. No prior wrestling experience is necessary.  We will practice and condition.  Sign ups are open to all students.

A Place of Refuge Campus Ministry-(mwalker4@my.westga.edu) Is an organization associated with A Place of Refuge church in Carrollton, GA.  The Pastor is Barry D Walker.  We are here to serve and promote students to become productive in every aspect of their lives.

Baptist Collegiate Ministries-(bcm@westga.edu) At  the BCM you have the opportunity to do just that.  You have the chance to experience a community of believers your age that are excited about their faith and eager to share it with others.  You have the opportunity to grow in your own faith through discipleship, fellowship and service opportunities.  Come join with us to make more and better followers of Christ!  Get plugged in!

Bethel Campus Fellowship-(falabi1@my.westga.edu) We believe in the infallibility of the scripture, the death, and the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the present and continuing work of the holy spirit.  We provide weekly opportunities to study the bible, worship, and pray all in a group which provides opportunities for fellowship, encouragement, and spiritual development among members.

Buddhist Wolves for World Peace-(bw4wp@yahoo.com) The mission of the UWG Buddhist Wolves for World Peace, founded in the Fall of 2008, is to actively participate in engaged Buddhism for the betterment of our campus, our community, and our world.
We strive to : Promote peace and protection for all living beings, Creative positive karma by participating in humanitarian acts, Include Buddhists from all traditions, Recognize al beings are interdependent, Practice nonviolence, Utilize participatory techniques for decision-making within the group, Bring a Buddhist perspective to contemporary world concerns.

Catholic Life-(jhb_3490@yahoo.com) Is a student organization that creates and supports a Catholic presence on campus.  At our weekly meetings we discuss and celebrate our faith.  Local community service projects are also a large part of our organization.  Catholics, friends of Catholics, and anyone interested in the Catholics faith are welcome to come.

Christian Campus Fellowship-(ccf@uwgccf.org) Exists to love students into a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ.  We seek to reach out to the students on campus as we develop students currently involved in our ministry.  Our goal is simple:  Love God and Love People.

Impact Student Ministry-(igivens3@my.westga.edu) Spiritual group whose goal is to help students along in their walk with God and to help others begin their walk with him.  This organization uses conferences, musical concerts, and other fun-filled events to promote its message to youth. 

Fellowship of Christian Athletes- (ebutts@westga.edu) Is a national Christian organization with a ministry based on sports.  The local campus organization provides students, athletes, and coaches opportunities to connect, share and grow spiritually through small group team huddles as well as joint group meetings and special events.  The FCA is a mentoring, service based organization with the mission to introduce, impact, and influence teammates and classmates to discover the victories of life through Christ. 

Freethought Society-(westgafs@gmail.com) Is to provide a forum for rational discussion of religious & non-religious world views, through hosting films, discussions, forums, and social events.  Also to create a community where any voice can be heard and welcome. 

Muslim Student Association-(uejaz1@my.westga.edu) Is a community wide organization that units to Islamic community in the West Georgia area.  We hold weekly Juhmmah prayers, Ramadan festivities, and community Barbeques as well as other get togethers for teachers, students, and parents.

Our Daily Bread-Campus Fellowship-(krucker2@my.westga.edu) Is a bible study for everyone.  There are several bible studies on campus, but not on Mondays.  ODB will be held on Mondays’ giving everyone a chance to hear the word of God everyday of the week.  The ODB meetings will consist of all types of people and denominations.  Everyone who believes the Bible will enjoy ODB.  The President of ODB opens the doors to anyone willing to come and be blessed.  God Bless you and yours!

Prayer Campus Ministries-(dburden1@my.westga.edu) Is a college outreach ministry of First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bradley Bell.  Our vision is to seek those that are lost and lead them to Christ by ministering to human needs, encouraging, nurturing our brothers and sisters toward spiritual maturity; cultivating a fruitful life for all believers and to walk in the power freely given after you enter redemption.

United Voices Gospel Choir-(bchilds1@my.westga.edu) The United Voices Gospel Choir is a Religious organization where you can come and praise the Lord and have great fellowship with your peers while you have a wonderful time in Christ, singing, and blessing the Lord.

Wesley Foundation/Fish House-(wgwesley@westga.edu) A ministry of the United Methodist Church, the Wesley Foundation, aka “Fish House,” is a community of students on a spiritual journey with Jesus.  We worship, pray, study the Bible, serve in mission and enjoy fellowship in Christ.  We welcome and value all persons as God’s beloved children and invite you to join us in our ministry.  Go deeper at the Fish House!

Young Adult Bible Study-(nlcyabs@msn.com) Is a formal non-denomination Bible Study club & more.  A great club that eats & discuss Godly principals, values, and God’s love. A place where you can meet a friend, find support & encouragement.  The I can, let’s take a trip, need a job connection, encouragement, get a great meal, and meet a friend.

Service Organizations

Alpha Phi Omega-(jcheney1@my.westga.edu) Is a national co-ed service fraternity that has set the standard for college and service since 1925.  We strive to help each member develop leadership skills, experience friendship& provide service to others.

Circle K International-(jmeigs2@my.westga.edu)

Students in Free Enterprise-(jalmond1@my.westga.edu) Is a global non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries.  SIFE is funded by financial contributions from corporations, entrepreneurs, foundations, government agencies, and individuals.  Working in partnership with business and higher education, SIFE establishes student teams on university campuses.  These teams are led by faculty advisors and they are challenged to develop community outreach projects that reach SIFE’s five educational topics:  Market Economics, Success Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Literacy.

The Rotaract Club-(wjohnso5@my.westga.edu)

University Ambassadors-(pdrummon@westga.edu) Is a Student organization that assists the office of admissions with recruitment.  This volunteer organization is responsible for providing tours of the campus to prospective students, hosting preview day, attending high schools, college fairs, and much more!

Venture Crew 6617-(jcrews4@my.westga.edu) Is a co-ed upper level division of the Boy Scouts of America. We participate in high adventure activities and many different volunteer services.

Commuter Student Association-(commuter@westga.edu) The Commuter Student Association (CSA) is brand new to UWG and we are looking for new and enthusiastic members!  CSA is a network of students which connects commuters to each other and to UWG by encouraging campus involvement among commuters.  Our goal is to develop a sense of community among all commuter students.  CSA is a great way to get involved and offers many benefits and leadership opportunities for its members.  We sponsor events and programs throughout the year that will help connect you with other UWG students, faculty, & staff.  CSA can easily fit into your calendar because the meetings and events are planned to fit your commuter schedule.

Free Verse-(eyoung1@my.westga.edu) Is a Student Organization trying to uplift the creativity and free expression of the people at University of West Georgia.  Free Verse is the medium for people to meet their subconscious self, allowing a free flow of poetry, hip hop, rock, jazz, and soul.  The experience will be legendary and can be life changing.

Student Activities Council-(uwgsac@westga.edu) Is a student organization whose purpose is to provide co-curricular activities for the West Georgia community. Our mission is to provide a number of diverse cultural, recreational, social, educational, and entertainment programs, and is implemented through seven program committees. These committees are: Special Presentations, Publicity, Public Relations, Live Entertainment, Multicultural, Novelty, and University Traditions. The president, vice presidents of recruitment and finance, secretary and chair people create the “Executive Board.” Together, the chair people and their committee members are responsible for planning and producing a variety of events. SAC is funded by the students of West Georgia through a portion of their activity fee that is allocated to us.

Women of diversity-(womenofdiversityuwg@yahoo.com) Is an organization created to build a sisterhood united in the joys of womanhood, love, and service.  This organization promotes personal, educational, and career development and encourages giving back to the community through volunteerism and mentoring.  Open to all who wish to join.

Social Greek

Alpha Gamma Delta-(ehill3@my.westga.edu) Is a social Panhellenic Greek sorority founded at Syracuse University in 1904.  Alpha Gamma Delta later came to University of West Georgia in 1971 and has been going strong since.  We are a strong close knit group of women who love hanging out together and helping out in the community.  Alpha Gam is well represented on the West Georgia campus thru various student organizations such as Campus Outreach, Student Activities Council, and Orientation Leaders.  We pride ourselves in being classy, well-rounded, loving women who strive to make the most of their college experience.

Alpha Tau Omega-(atoetaph@gmail.com) Has a very active role on campus and in the community.  Over the last few years, brothers have been taking leadership roles in various campus organizations.  Brothers have also raised thousands of dollars for nonprofit organizations by compiling thousands of hours community service.  We are always looking for new members.  The important thing that we recognize is that being in a fraternity is a two-way street.

Alpha Xi Delta-(lahlovesazd@yahoo.com) Was founded on the principles of loyalty, service, and sisterhood.  As one of the oldest and largest national sororities in the country, we participate in many activities on campus and in the community.  Our philanthropy is Choose Children, which means that we volunteer our time to help any children’s organization in this community.  We are the only national organization sorority that encourages service for our philanthropy instead of just raising and donating money.  The sisters of Zeta Omega chapter are fortunate to have a clear vision of life that develops from living the reality of a true sisterhood of women.

Chi Omega-(Lconnel1@my.westga.edu) We are proud of the programs we offer, including band parties, socials, study hall, sports, and above all strong friendships.  In addition to academics, there is much more to be learned in college.  Personal growth and development are also essential but often overlooked in the classroom routine.  This is where life can be important to an individual, we add a personal touch, a group of friends learning, growing, and sharing together.

Chi Phi-(cedward@my.westga.edu) Is the oldest social fraternity in the nation. The Alpha Zeta chapter has operated continuously on the campus of West Georgia for 35 years.  The Alpha Zeta Alumni Association consist of 600 active alumni who contribute to the chapter.

Delta Chi-(dcarmic1@my.westga.edu) Is West Georgia’s newest fraternity on campus.  In  a short time we have hosted several social activities with various sororities, held yearly formals and participated in various intramural spots throughout the year.  Our fraternity has many men of fine character, who all exemplify the meaning of brotherhood inside and out.

Delta Delta Delta-(preeves1@my.westga.edu) The ladies of Tri Delta strive to excel in academics, campus involvement, and community service.  Each year we host activities and events which raise money for our national Philanthropy, St Jude Children’s cancer research.  Tri-Deltas offer support, love, and security to all of their sisters.  Delta Delta Delta has dedicated itself and its members to broadening the horizons of young women.  Tri-Delta allows women the opportunity to achieve their hopes and dreams.

Inter-Fraternity Council-(mskelto2@my.westga.edu) In joining a fraternity, you become a member of the fraternity system, a system which encompasses all nine of UWG’s National Interfraternity Conference fraternities and everyone on the system’s 300 plus members.  Nearly 13% of West Georgia’s university men are part of the Interfraternity Council system, working together on philanthropic projects, and all kinds of activities.  The Interfraternity Council provides many opportunities for involvement in campus life and the Greek system outside your individual fraternity.

Iota Phi Theta-(mbrown13@my.westga.edu) Is a fraternity that will bring the true meaning of Greek life to the University of West Georgia.  Although being new to the campus, the fraternity will continue to grow because of those students who are not following the crowd.  This fraternity believes in individuality.  We want real men who have good grades and are business-oriented.  Like our motto, “Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One.”  We are building at West GA.

Kappa Alpha Order-(wsisk1@my.westga.edu) Was founded in 1865 at Washington& Lee University.  With 128 chapters & 141,000 initiated members, KA continues to be a leader among fraternities.  With our spiritual founder, Robert E. Lee, we live up to the highest ideals & morals that we are based upon.  KA here at West Georgia is a truly close-knit brotherhood in which we have a great deal of pride to be a KA & are honored to wear the letters.

Kappa Alpha Psi-(msmith25@my.westga.edu) Membership is a solemn commitment.  To this fraternity, the maker of the commitment becomes synonymous with the commitment itself.  Membership is Kappa Alpha Psi is a lifelong dedication to the ideals and lofty purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi, which considers for membership only those aspirants whose personal, social, and academic qualifications are acceptable to both the college and fraternity.

Kappa Delta -(amandaleighkd@yahoo.com) Contain unique but united young women.  You will find a variety of personalities when you look at these women.  Some may be into sports while others will find different organizations on campus to be involved in.  Kappa Delta’s national philanthropies are the National Committee to Prevent Child Abuse, the Kappa Delta Fund for Children in need, the Children’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, and the Orthopedic Awards.  Kappa Delta’s local philanthropies are the mile pick-up, adopt a family, and nursing home visits.  Throughout all of Kappa Delta’s endeavors, both locally and nationally, these sisters always strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest.

Kappa Sigma-(jdoss1@my.westga.edu) Was chartered at the University of West Georgia on April 2, 1971.  Kappa Sigma is the first national fraternity chartered at UWG.  Kappa Sigma is based on the four pillars of  success:  Scholarship, fellowship, leadership, and service.  The fraternity was founded in Bologna, Italy in 1400 at the University of Bologna, but in America at the University of Virginia on December 10, 1869.  The Lambda-Delta chapter of Kappa Sigma is the winning 2007 Picklesheimer Award winner and the 2007 Greek week champions.

National Pan-Hellenic Council-(ajankan1@my.westga.edu) Is currently composed of nine (9) International Greek letter Sororities and Fraternities:  Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. NPHC promotes interaction through forums, meetings, and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

National Panhellenic Council-(hrobins2@my.westga.edu) Is the governing body of the six sororities at West Georgia. The Panhellenic Council is made up of 8 officers and one delegate from each sorority on campus. The officers and delegates work together to provide a support system for all chapter on campus and help them work together to better serve the campus and the community. Panhellenic organizes programs that enhance Greek Life through scholarship, community service, and leadership development. Panhellenic Council gives women the opportunity to be involved, not just in their individual chapter but also in the entire community.

Phi Delta-(ptomes1@my.westga.edu) Is a co-ed fraternity that promotes and supports all aspects of music. Phi Delta was founded at UWG in 2006.  This fraternity purpose is to promote programs and activities that exemplify the love of music in the community. Phi Delta was established in order to give students who love music a chance to meet with one another and exchange ideas, broaden individual outlooks, and to provide support for one another. Members of Phi Delta must demonstrate a love for music and a desire for the advancement of music.

Phi Mu- (http://www.uwgphimu.com/) Is the second oldest sorority in the world, being founded in 1852. Phi Mu can be known for its three ideals: Love, Honor, and Truth. We all have different college experiences but we share a bond of sisterhood. Our colors are rose & white and our symbol is the lion.

Sigma Gamma Rho-(shaysmith818@gmail.com) Was founded November 12, 1922 by school teachers in Indianapolis Indiana.  Our motto is “greater service, greater progress.” Our secondary motto is “sisterhood.”  We do tons of community service and social events on campus. We like to have fun and enjoy helping others. We are dedicated to education and enjoy the campus environment.

Tau Kappa Epsilon-(bfry1@my.westga.edu) Is the world’s largest social fraternity with over 280 chapters and 260,000 initiates. The goal of TKE is to focus on moral, social, and mental development for life.

Zeta Phi Beta-(ksims2@my.westga.edu) The Omicron Nu Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was found on the campus of UWG in May 1987. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. focuses on the principles of scholarship, service, sisterly love, and finer womanhood. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity are the only constitutionally bound organizations within NPHC.

C.A.P.E.-(cfrazie3@my.westga.edu) Crime Awareness and Prevention Education is a new student organization at the University of West Georgia.  Our organization is a special interest organization with a focus of informing the students and faculty of UWG about crime, how it affects our campus and our community at large and about the laws that govern us.  We also will strive to bring about awareness and prevention measure in reference to crime. We plan to achieve our goal by holding panel discussions with Criminal Justice Professionals, Politicians, Community Organizers, Professors, Victims of Crime, Mental Health Professionals, and Healthcare Professionals, who will share and take questions from our students in regards to the topic of the panel discussions.  We strive to make our campus and community at large aware, prevention savvy, and a safer environment.

Diamond Dolls Dance Team-(uwgdiamonddolls@yahoo.com) We are a collegiate level dance team of University of West Georgia. We represent the dance team, school, and community in an exemplary manner.  Serving as role models for appropriate behavior & citizenship.  We develop good sportsmanship, self-confidence, and self-discipline through practice and performance.

Envy Dance Team-(jbaker2@my.westga.edu) Is formerly known as the West Georgia Dance Team. Envy Dance Team is a dedicated and skilled group of students who represent the university in a positive and spirited manner through dance. The team is comprised of students with individual dance backgrounds, but all have the same love and passion for dancing.  As a member, they have the opportunity to perform at all men’s home basketball games, events, and other various school functions.  During the school year, the team practices two to three times a week to prepare for games and other events.  Basketball games allow the team to perform 3 to 5 minute routines at half time.  UWG Envy focuses on how well they execute choreography while still maintaining their own individual style, and encourages any UWG students to join if they truly love to dance.

Society for Creative Anachronisms-(krystal1970@hotmail.com) Is a group at the University of West Georgia that consists of students, staff, and faculty dedicated to researching and re-creating life of  pre 17th Century Europe. The SCA is a group that spans the globe and has tens of thousands of members.

STAND-(uwg.stand@gmail.com) Members in the chapter organize and educate their peers and communities advocate to their elected officials for substantial legislative action, divest their schools, cities, states, fundraiser for civilian protection in Darfus conflict affected regions around the world.  Our main goal is to work towards the prevention and cure of genocide.

Student Athlete Advisory Council-(critchi3@my.westga.edu) Is a group of student athletes who have joined together to better the relationship between the athletes and the community. Through various activities we attempt to unite both the campus and community through the student athlete.

Luster and demonstrate disapproval of the decisions and action taken by the University Police and University officials for the third Downs Hall arson attack on Feb 13, 2008.

Versatile-(amanson1@my.westga.edu) Is a promotional organization that explores every art and gives the artist a venue to showcase their creativity. We promote powerful, inspiring, and purposeful art to educate society as a whole & to bring cultures together through art.
