Operation Haiti

International Student Club for Haiti

The International Student Club has decided to send a portion of the money collected from International Night ticket sales to OPERATION HAITI and will also be partaking in other fund raising activities to help Haiti's recovery.

With every passing day the true extent of the horror and struggle the Haitian people are faced with is increasingly heartbreaking and frightening.

Reports predict the death toll is expected to be about 200,000 people!!!
The population of some Caribbean islands, like mine, is less than 200,000.

The damage to basic infrastructure (water and food supply, medical accessibility, even shelter) leaves orphans and many others homeless and hungry. The great need and little supply of basic amenities is giving rise to violence. People are literally fighting to survive.

We will be collecting donations at every ISC meeting and will also be accepting donations at the ISC office. It doesn't matter how small the donation you can afford, TOGETHER our contributions WILL make a difference!!!!!

UWG Establishes Fund to Assist Earthquake Relief Effort

In the wake of the devastation suffered by Haiti from the recent earthquakes, the University of West Georgia has created a special UWG Haiti Relief Fund that will give the public an opportunity to support emergency relief and recovery efforts for those in need. The needs of the people affected by the earthquakes are numerous, including safe water, food, medical supplies and hygiene kits. Critical services and the infrastructure necessary for aid distribution have suffered severe damage, making relief efforts more challenging.

But the compassion and generosity of spirit of those who can help, including the UWG community, can brighten this darkest hour.

The financial support of donors to the UWG Haiti Relief Fund will contribute to providing assistance to the displaced population, many of whom have lost everything.

Other relief efforts undertaken by the campus community include a health kit drive, in which contributors gathered supplies from a prescribed list to send to Haiti, and a benefit concert at UWG’s Campus Center on Jan. 27 for the American Red Cross’s work in Haiti.

To donate to the relief fund, call 678-839-6582 or go to and click on the Online Giving tab on the left of the page, and in the Gift Designation section, type UWG Haiti Relief Fund.
