Big Night
Big Night! is hosted annually by the Student Association for Research and Creative Humanities. Competitions for the honor of presenting research are conducted in the arts, education, business and humanities and winning students then make a 10-minute research presentation at Big Night! All other submissions are accepted for display as exhibits after the presentations

Big Night 2010
The Department of Economics had five students participating in the event James Couch was the first place winner. Harold Walbert was the second place winner. Other participants were; Donna Marron, Tania Celis, and Linda Becham. Dr. William " Joey " Smith was the advisor for all of this year's participants.
Big Night 2009
The Department of Economics had three students participating in the event German Perez Vergas was the first winner. Asad Malik won third place. Dr. William "Joey" Smith was the advisor for these two students. Tania Celis also participated in the event. Her advisor was Dr. Hilde Patron.
Big Night 2008
The Department of Economics had one student participating in the event Kim Holder she won 1st place with her Economics paper. Her advisor was Dr. William "Joey" Smith. Kim Holder and Marcia Cole won 3rd place with their Multi-Topic paper on Solving the Rubik's Cube. Their advisors were Dr. William "Joey" Smith and Dr. David Boldt.

The Department of Economics had one student who participated in the event Justin Purkey won first place; his advisor was Dr. William "Joey Smith".

The Department of Economics had one student who participating in the event. Dustin Poole won first place; his advisor was Dr. Michael Raper.
