- Turn down your thermostat to 68 degrees during the winter months and turn it up to 78 degrees during the summer months
- For students that have temperature controls in their rooms, the easiest & quickest thing to do to save energy, with the fastest payback, is to adjust thermostat settings
- Don't use space heaters - try extra layers of clothing instead
- Space heaters use electrical resistance heating elements and, therefore are expensive to operate
- Turn off your computer each night
- Energy consumption is cut by over 60% with nightly shut-down
- Turn off your monitor when not in use for longer than an hour
- A computer CRT monitor uses 60 watts of power
- Turn off the lights when you leave a room for longer than 15-20 minutes
- Use desktop lamps instead of lighting the entire room and use lower watt bulbs when possible

- Laser printers use 300 watts, while inkjet printers only use 10 watts
- Make sure that exterior doors and windows remain closed
