2nd Mile - Second Year Experience

To solidify the best possible college experience for you, UWG's Second Year Program, 2nd Mile, offers various “networks” with special activities during the year. These networks connect you with other 2nd year students who have similar interests. 2nd Mile will provide resources and programming specific to each network. We will alert you to those activities and programs specific to your networks, so that you can get the information that you need to reach your goals and thrive in your 2nd year at UWG!

	"All roads CONNECT west" Make a connection on campus • Learn more about student organizations and how to get involved • Join the 2nd Mile Intramural teams • Attend outdoor adventure trips such as whitewater rafting and horseback riding • Connect with a mentor who will introduce you to other helpful resources on campus!
	"Press your EXCELerator" Provides assistance to ALL students from HOPE scholars to students on academic probation/warning • Offers programs for minority students (More Power 2 U) • Study sessions, tutoring, and advising • Participate in the 2nd Mile Marker Challenge to earn points towards prizes • More fun events such as Welcome Back Blast for 2nd year students, Finals Breakfast, Sophomore Retreat, and Secret Destination Trips just for 2nd year students!
	"GROW as you go" Get involved with volunteer opportunities on and off campus • Attend events to learn more about studying abroad and earn a chance to win scholarships • Attend events that will help you to develop as a leader • Get connected with other resources on campus that will help you grow personally and professionally • Learn how to become a 2nd Mile Leader/Mentor • Break out of your comfort zone and do something you’ve never done before!
	"LIVE in the moment" Live on campus and receive special incentives for 2nd year students • Attend events, such as Dinner & a Movie, just for 2nd year students living on campus • Easy access to Excel Center tutoring in the Residence Halls • And more! (New network under construction)
	"Mapping a PLAN to your future" Provides assistance to students while exploring and searching majors and careers • Find out your personality type and identify your strengths • Take assessments to help you decide on the right major and career for you • Get connected with UWG alumni through our Alumni mentoring program • Learn interviewing skills and get help building your resume • Learn more about opportunities for part time jobs, internships, and coops • Attend events specific for your major • And, for fun, attend the Marti Gras of Majors after party if you declare your major during your 2nd year!
	"TRANSFER your path to success" For transfer students only • Get to know campus better with your Welcome Week Packet • Attend free lunches to meet and mingle with other transfer students • Receive the extra help you need by attending seminars designed specifically for transfer students • Get connected with your transfer mentor!
