HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students who are residents of Georgia, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, meet UWG’s academic progress rules, etc. It is important to remember that you can only begin receiving HOPE at certain times – as an incoming freshman or once you cross 30, 60, or 90 attempted hour checkpoints. Once a student loses HOPE, s/he can only regain it once.

Effective immediately, all HOPE Scholarship recipients must have a 2012-2013 FAFSA on file with the University of West Georgia to remain eligible for summer 2013 funds. If you have not previously filed a 2012-2013 FAFSA, and wish to receive HOPE for summer 2013, please complete a FAFSA immediately. To guarantee that your FAFSA will be reviewed for processing in time for the fee payment deadline for summer, your financial aid file must be complete by April 1, 2013. To see the fee payment deadlines, please check The Scoop at http://www.westga.edu/registrar/766.php.

In addition to the 2012-2013 FAFSA, all students seeking HOPE Scholarship funds must complete a HOPE Inquiry form located in your Banweb, under Student Services & Financial Aid, Financial Aid. Incoming Freshman and transfer students will be unable to complete the HOPE Inquiry form until admission status is complete.

For the fall 2013 semester, all HOPE Scholarship recipients must complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA. To guarantee that your FAFSA will be reviewed for processing in time for the fee payment deadline for the fall, your financial aid file must be complete by July 1, 2013. To see the fee payment deadlines, please check The Scoop at http://www.westga.edu/registrar/766.php.

Students will be required to complete a FAFSA every year to be eligible for HOPE/Zell Funds. The FAFSA is good for three (3) semesters, fall, spring, and summer.

Students will also be required to submit a HOPE Inquiry prior to the start of every fall semester and/or at the start of each semester following a semester in which the student was not enrolled.
