African American Males
The African-American Male Initiative Learning Community helps African-American male students adjust academically and socially to college life by grouping first-year men with a similar interest into a set of common courses. The students live and attend class together for an entire academic year. The merging of academic life and social structure allows students to make friends quickly, establish study groups, and help each other through the first year of college. In addition, LC students receive individualized mentoring, develop a relationship with faculty members, and receive early advising and registration during the fall semester. All students in this learning community share the same course schedule, which can be viewed at http://www.westga.edu/~fye/AAMI.pdf.
