Learning Objectives

  • 1. A well-developed understanding of the major areas of chemistry including organic, analytical, physical, and inorganic chemistry. 2. The ability to formulate significant research questions, design experiments, carry out experimental protocol, and analyze and interpret data. 3. An understanding of mathematical formalism as applied to chemistry. 4. The ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written presentations 5. Proficiency in retrieving information from the literature. 6. The ability to use appropriate computer applications and information technology as applied to chemistry. 7. Adequate preparation to compete successfully in a science-related career and/or a graduate or professional program. 8. An understanding of the impact of chemistry in a global/societal context.
  • The Department of Art's objectives are for art education students to develop sound skills and knowledge and become young professionals by demonstrating the following: â–ª A broad knowledge on the history of art and design. â–ª A thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of visual arts and design. â–ª A thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of arts education. â–ª Communication of ideas and thoughts about art and design through written and verbal communication. â–ª Communication of unique ideas and thoughts in the creation of one's own work in a variety of visual disciplines, including Art History, Art Education, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, and Sculpture The culmination of knowledge will be evaluated through the completion of a BFA senior thesis, creative research exhibition, oral defense and the development of a final BFA in Art Education Portfolio.
  • Students will select a topic and explore the theoretical, research-based, and practical applications for imroving student literacy development

They are able to use diverse instructional strategies to teach for understanding.
  • Teachers are Responsible for Managing and Monitoring Student Learning. NBCTs deliver effective instruction. They move fluently through a range of instructional techniques, keeping students motivated, engaged and focused. They know how to engage students to ensure a disciplined learning environment, and how to organize instruction to meet instructional goals. NBCTs know how to assess the progress of individual students as well as the class as a whole. They use multiple methods for measuring student growth and understanding, and they can clearly explain student performance to parents.
