The Certification in Media (Instructional Technology Concentration) is for students who wish to add certification in Instructional Technology but do not wish to earn another advanced degree.  The certification is relevant to teachers and other school personnel employed in Georgia who already hold at least a Level 5 Certification with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.  The Certification in Media (Instructional Technology Concentration) may be completed in 2 – 4 semesters.  For example, students may take two courses for two semesters or take one course per semester for four semesters.

The online Post-Baccalaureate Non-degree Certification in Media (School Library Media) program is designed to prepare educators in the following ways:

  •     Preparing progressive, innovative, academically grounded school library specialists and instructional technology leaders;
  •     Enabling teachers and school library media specialists to successfully integrate technology into their learning environments to support student learning;
  •     Building and enhancing skills in research and program evaluation to support instructional growth and improvement;
  •     Pioneering innovative delivery options to maximize educational experiences;
  •     Cultivating diversity of ideas, values, and persons responsive to changing needs and technologies; and
  •     Promoting the advancement of learning through scholarship and service.

Endorsement - K-5 Mathematics

The K-5 Mathematics Endorsement program is designed to strengthen and  advance mathematics content knowledge, provide professional growth, and promote changes in practice that impact student achievement.  To be eligible for the program, an individual must hold a Clear Renewable teaching certificate and have a minimum of one year of teaching experience. With this endorsement, individuals teaching mathematics in grades K-5 will be eligible to earn salary incentives when funded by the General Assembly.

The K-5 Science Endorsement program is designed to strengthen and  advance science content knowledge, provide professional growth, and promote changes in practice that impact student achievement. 5. To be eligible for the program, an individual must hold a Clear Renewable teaching certificate and have a minimum of one year of teaching experience. With this endorsement, individuals teaching science in grades K-5 will be eligible to earn salary incentives when funded by the General Assembly.

Endorsement - Reading

The Reading Endorsement is comprised of 3 graduate courses in reading education (READ 7271, READ 7263, and READ 7201) designed by the University System of Georgia Reading Consortium to provide additional, focused professional development of certified teachers in the assessment and instruction of reading. Successful completion of all 3 courses qualifies certified teachers to apply for the Reading Endorsement which is added to a Georgia teaching certificate. All three courses can be transferred into the M.Ed. in Reading Education program.
