UWG Stories
Tripp Spears
“Seeing other musicians make their dreams come true makes me realize that if I work hard enough, I could do the same,” Tripp said.
Maybe you’ve heard his music on MTV’s Room Raiders. Perhaps his song “Don’t Go” is a ringtone on your cell. However, if you haven’t yet heard the sounds of University of West Georgia senior Tripp Spears and his band Saving Her, you could be missing out on a fresh Indie rock group with Carrollton ties.
“Once I got into UWG, the band I had in high school started slipping away so I began to focus on my solo project,” the sociology major recalled. “I wrote two of my songs while I lived at Chi Phi fraternity house across from campus.”
“The environment at UWG is great with the variety of programs and the proximity to Atlanta,” he continued. “Here I have a place where I can concentrate on my music, school and my social life at the same time.”
The singer, lyricist and guitarist also said he recognizes that show business is not an easy task.
“Seeing other musicians make their dreams come true makes me realize that if I work hard enough, I could do the same,” Tripp said. “I am also open to a career that will allow me to use my music to understand society and environments.”
