Dr. Sethna receives award at KSU
The Center for Student Leadership at Kennesaw State University presented a CSL Student Empowerment Award to Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, president of the University of West Georgia and interim chief academic officer and executive vice chancellor for the University System of Georgia, for his contributions in empowering students to become strong, ethical leaders.
Sethna accepted the award at a luncheon hosted by the center and KSU President Daniel S. Papp. Sethna has contributed regularly to the student leadership programs sponsored by the center and has been praised for his guidance and encouragement to student leaders.
Brian Wooten, director of the center, praised Sethna for being an active, vital participant in KSU’s student leadership activities.
“His leadership style is very accommodating, and he meets the students where they are,” Wooten said. “He is an incredible, inspiring leader, and all of our students rave about him.”
During the program, Sethna engaged students in a conversation about the definitions of leadership, their goals and aspirations and upcoming international service projects.
“Student leadership is important because it will determine the future of this state, the country and the world,” Sethna said. “It is incredibly important that students have the right resources and approaches to use in future leadership roles.”
Sethna has been serving in the CAO/EVC position in Atlanta since June 2006. A search has begun to fill the position and allow Sethna to return to West Georgia.
