30 year library employee retires
Hundreds of friends attended the retirement party of Betsy Griffies, librarian associate professor and head of the Ingram Library Cataloging Department at the University of West Georgia. Griffies, a 30-year UWG veteran, said her retirement plans include a trip to Scotland and spending more time with her grandchildren. “I made a lot of great friends here and around the state,” said Griffies. “West Georgia will always be in my heart and mind.” She has served on dozens of state and regional study groups and committees and recently won recognition for exemplary service to the GALILEO Interconnected Libraries. GALILEO or Georgia Library Leaning Online, is a World Wide Web-based virtual library that provides access to multiple information resources. In 2001-02 she chaired the GALILEO Electronic Resources Access Study Group, which led to the implementation of an improved link on GALILEO.
