UWG Food Service Receives Recognition
John Lyons, manager of Aramark Higher Education food services at the University of West Georgia, received the “Front Line Manager of the Year” award this year. The prestigious award is given to the best overall food services operation in the country for the fall 2006 and spring 2007 semesters. Aramark is contracted by more than 400 higher education institutions to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner on campus. Lyons said that he and his staff serve more than 500,000 meals to faculty, staff, students and UWG guests each year. “The trophy has my name on it, but it is really a campus award,” said Lyons. “My staff works hard to serve the best.” Celebrating with Lyons on his achievement are Aramark staff members (l-r) Debra Roberts, Tiffany Christman, Rodney Ridley, John Lyons, Yvette Berry, Bruce Gonsalves and Nan McElreath. Aramark operates a convenience store, coffee kiosks and several cafeterias on the UWG campus. Aramark, a contracted food service for UWG, is improving every year, said Mark Reeves, director of the Department of Auxiliary Services. “I am so pleased with Aramark’s efforts to better understand our students’ dining needs,” said Reeves. “Aramark’s ability to continuously improve has been a real bonus for everyone on campus and I want to commend John and his staff for the excellent standards they have maintained.”
