Homecoming is Saturday
West Georgia on My Mind UWG Homecoming celebration begins with a 1920s,‘30s, and ‘40s Reunion Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 28, at the Food Services Building (Z-6). A Reception and Social, at 10 a.m. kicks off the reunion followed by a group photo session at 11:30 a.m. A Homecoming Lunch and Reunion program will begin at noon and will feature UWG Chamber singers for entertainment and a commemorative medallion presentation to all alumni who haven’t previously received one. The event cost $17 per person.
A new tradition will begin for the UWG classes of ’61, ‘62 and ’63 this homecoming with a golf outing at the Sunset Hills Country Club. Men and women are invited to play. Tee time begins at 1 p.m. and fees are $48 per person. Call 706-614-0761 to reserve a tee time.
The annual Alumni Awards Presentation and Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. with a candlelight dinner overlooking the campus on the third floor terrace of the Technology-enhanced Learning Center (TLC).
Following the dinner, the National Alumni Association will conduct its annual meeting and present awards to outstanding supporters of the association and UWG. The rain location is in the (Z-6). Cost for the Award Dinner is $35 a couple or $20 each.
An after party at Rome Street Tavern Grill will continue the festivities at 9 p.m. for alumni with a complimentary hor d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 29, begins at 8:30 a.m. with a President’s Breakfast on the front lawn of the Alumni House on Maple Street. The buffet breakfast is complimentary and reservations are recommended.
The annual Homecoming parade will follow at 10 a.m. with a lineup of UWG parade floats at the Westover Square parking lot and at the Club Fitness parking lot on Maple Street at 9 a.m. The parade will proceed onto Maple Street toward the university and end at the Tyus Hall parking lot on West Georgia Drive. Stands for viewing the parade will be available at the UWG West Entrance.
At 11:30 a.m., there will be a 25-year reunion for the class of 1982 at the Alumni House. A Southern barbeque lunch and a tailgate ambience will be served at a cost of $15 each and $25 a couple.
From noon to 2 p.m., alumni and friends of the Richards College of Business are invited to the Adamson Hall Patio for a complimentary Homecoming 2007 Reception.
At noon, a West Georgia Booster Club alumni tailgate party will begin at noon at Grisham Stadium. Tickets are $8 and all alumni are invited to attend. The UWG Wolves football game will follow at 2 p.m.
To conclude the weekend’s events, a Golden Alumni Society Reunion will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. A wine and cheese reception will start the event and dinner at 7 p.m. will follow. Entertainment by musician Jerry Rogers begins at 8 p.m. and will thrill the audience throughout the evening.
