A DAY Music Faculty Concert
The Department of Music will present its annual A DAY Music Faculty Concert on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8:15 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. A donor reception, co-sponsored by the University Foundation, will begin at 7:30 p.m. before the concert. The events are free and the community is invited to attend.
Each year, current music faculty and guests from the university and the community perform a wide range of music genres including classical, jazz, voice and percussion. The event provides an opportunity to enjoy some of Carrollton’s best musical talent on stage.
“The Music Faculty A DAY Concert is always a highlight of our season,” said Dr. Kevin Hibbard, professor of music and chair of the Department of Music. “The audience is always impressed by the extensive array of talent shown by the West Georgia music faculty.”
This year’s concert will include operatic arias performed by Larry Frazier and Kevin Hibbard; The RazzaMaJazz Quintet, led by Dr. Daniel Bakos, a jazz studies and music professor; and the Bleuel Duo, a saxophone and piano duet featuring Drs. John Bleuel, of the UWG music faculty, and Linda Li-Bleuel, a professor at Clemson University.
Other faculty members performing at the concert are Jan Adams, accompanying on piano; Melanie Fuller, instructor of flute; Ellie Jenkins, instructor of horn; Elizabeth Jones, instructor of tuba and euphonium; Elizabeth Kramer, a violinist and assistant professor of music history; Michael Lanier, instructor of trumpet; Brian Mitchell, instructor of guitar; Kevin Mobbs, instructor of trombone; and Doug Overmier, director of bands and percussive studies.
Guest artists include Terry Lowry, piano; Peter Mueller, piano, and the RazzaMaJazz Quintet.
Everyone is invited to enjoy the music talent of West Georgia. UWG music students benefit from scholarships obtained through the generosity of donors who contribute to the university’s annual A DAY campaign.
