The University of West Georgia Marching Band, “The Sound That Lights the South,” will perform its annual indoor spectacular Varsity Show on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. The University of West Georgia Marching Band, “The Sound That Lights the South,” will perform its annual indoor spectacular Varsity Show on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 8:15 p.m. at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.

The community is invited to experience all the pageantry, visual effects and routines of the UWG Marching Band as they perform everyone’s favorite music of the season with amazing dance routines, guard displays, cadences and drum-breaks. 

A new addition to this year’s performance will include presentations from each instrumental section of the band that show off the comedic, musical and visual talents of each section. 

The UWG Marching Band is directed by Dr. Doug Overmier, director of bands and instructor of percussion, and has toured extensively internationally and throughout the United States.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for faculty and staff and free admission for UWG students with ID cards. Tickets can be purchased at the Townsend Center box office Monday– Friday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  For more information, call 678-839-6516.
