9th Annual Honor Band Clinic
A Chamber Music Concert will present special guest artist Dr. Richard Spece and two UWG chamber groups on Friday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. Spece plays clarinet with the Saeculum Aureum Players, which is based in Portland, OR, and is an acclaimed musician.
The UWG Trumpet Quartet, under the direction of Mike Lanier, instructor of trumpet, and the UWG Jazz Percussion Group, directed by Dr. Doug Overmier, director of bands, will also perform.
The UWG Honor Band Concert will feature guest conductors Roger Cichy and Robert Barnes on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. The concert will include musical selections performed by the Honor Band students.
Over his career, Cichy has also written more than 300 compositions and arrangements that range from music for high schools to professional orchestras.
Barnes was trained as a conductor at the Conductor’s Institute at the University of South Carolina and is founder and director of the Grayson High School Band program.
