"West Georgia has opened me up to so many opportunities," Sarah said.

The University of West Georgia is a great place to get an education; it is also a great way to get valuable work experience. Atlanta native and UWG senior Sarah Ku gets to see both sides of the spectrum.

“West Georgia has opened me up to so many opportunities,” said Sarah, a marketing major who works as a customer relations and marketing intern in UWG’s Auxiliary Services. “I am getting experience in marketing and other areas, which is great. I’m able to get a lot of projects done without having constant supervision. The responsibility and trust I’ve received are very rewarding.”

Sarah KuShe said another gratifying experience is seeing firsthand how much the university does for its students.

“The school works hard to try and find out students’ needs and then fill those needs,” Sarah continued. “I’m always working on different projects; it’s never just daily mundane work. And the best thing about it is that I not only know that I’m helping to improve our campus, but I can actually see those changes.”

Last year, Sarah worked with ARAMARK marketer Huma Zafar to survey students about their desired food choices in the Centre Café. The survey revealed that students would like to have an Asian cuisine option, which prompted Auxiliary Services to open AFC Sushi and Rice Bowls.

“It’s nice to know that I helped contribute to such a popular new idea on campus,” she said.

Audrey Baird, assistant director of Career Services, said approximately 600 students like Sarah work on campus.

"If we didn’t have the assitance of our student workers, we could not operate our offices," she said.

Sarah’s supervisor, director of Auxiliary Services Mark Reeves, said he is grateful for the skills she brings to Auxiliary Services and the campus in general.

“Sarah has done fabulous work,” he said. “She has made a tremendous contribution to the service level we now provide.”
